The third activity for NRP's 45 minutes intervention program is the Snake and Ladder. The teachers have to teach the students the basic theory of integer, BODMAS and the rule and regulation of the game before the students could play the game.
To play the game, the member of the groups have to roll the dice first and placed her coin on the game board, according to the number as shown by the dice. If the coin fall on the snake head, means the coin has to moved down to the end of the tail (lower number). If on the ladder, then it climb up the ladder to a higher number. But if it falls on the word 'card', then the student has to pick up a card and solve the problem. If the answer is correct, she will then proceed to forward few steps as stated on the card. If not, then she will miss a round turn.
The students really enjoyed this game but a few students felt nervous as they landed on the word 'card'. It is either proceed or miss a turn for them. Beside enjoying the game, the students will also learnt Integer as well.
The SMSB's SLP team members, Cikgu Salanjat, Cikgu Goh Siah Ching and Cikgu Hafizuddin have went from class to class to witness the activity.

Mathematics and Science Dept Meeting
A day before the next activity for NRP normally the Mathematics and Science Department members would held a meeting in order to understand the rules and regulation of the game before it is introduced to the students.
Today, the teachers are taught about INTEGERs and how they would use Snake and Ladder game to learn this topic. Beside learning the theory behind it, the teachers have to try out the game.
Seems that if the teachers are enjoying the game, so will be for the students.

Second activity of NRP
The second activity for Numeracy Recovery Program was held on 20 January 2011 during the 45 minutes. It is called SNAP SHOT. The students are using the cards for this game. There are two types of cards, which are questions and answers. The questions card are first reshuffle and the answer cards are equally distributed among the members of the team. A student is responsible to pick a question card on the top and place it on the table openly. The members had to work out the problem by calculating mentally for the answer and whoever got the answer in her hand, will call out SNAP! and place the her answer card on the table. The other members can check the answer whether it is correct or not.
The students had a great time playing the game and few groups had even try 2 rounds for this game.
